Vegetable Vermicelli Upma | Sewayi Upma- Remedy Strong

Hello Everyone! I am back with another amazing weight loss recipe that you all are gonna love!! Yes as the title speaks itself, it’s vegetable vermicelli

Vermicelli is a very thin pasta, that is beaten into bits. It is whole wheat and egg-free. The beauty of vermicelli is that it can be cooked in 100 different ways. You can either make it sweet milk-based or spicy vegetable upma style. Either way, it tastes delicious.

You all must have ate this before with milk and added sugar but this time I am going to share its healthier version with loads of vegetables.

So all you have to do is:-

1) Take only half cup of uncooked vermicelli of any brand. You can buy one from any supermarket store near you.

Its good if its roasted one and even if you don’t get a roasted one than you can roast it yourself . Simply toss the vermicelli onto the heated pan in high flame and keep mixing until the vermicelli turn golden brown.

Note: You are not supposed to add any oil or ghee to the pan just Dry roast the vermicelli.

2) Once the vermicelli is dry roasted, keep them aside and on the same pan add 1 tablespoon ghee and let it warm up.

3) Add mustard seeds and curry leaves and let them splutter.

4) Add chopped onions and stir them well until they turn soft. And then add half table spoon of ginger garlic paste to it and mix it well.

5) Add finely chopped tomato, handful of peas and finely chopped carrots, capsicum, beans and almost any veggie of your choice.

6) Add spices: red chilli powder, salt to taste, pinch of garam masala, and also turmeric powder which is optional.

7) Mix all the ingredients well and cover the mixture with a lid till everything is well cooked for 5 min.

8) After 5-7 min, add roasted vermicelli to the mixture and add 3 times of the water to the vermicelli taken. Like if you took 1/2 cup uncooked vermicelli than add at least 1.5 of the same cup of water to the vermicelli and let it cook on a full flame and without covering the pan.

9) After few minutes, our vermicelli is ready to be eaten. Make sure you won’t add much water to the dish otherwise our vermicelli will turn soggy which we don’t want.

So the total calories in this half cup of vegetable vermicelli is 120-150 calories.
